This week our class will begin visiting the Media Center. Our scheduled time is every Thursday from 1:30-2:00.
Your child will be allowed to check out one book at a time. Once the Accelerated Reader program is up and running, they will be able to take a test on the book and then check out a new one.
I set a goal of 2 AR tests per 9 weeks for my students at this point in the year due to the fact that not all of them can read independently and rely upon an adult to help them with their test. Students who meet this goal with an average of 85% will get to attend an AR reward party. Those are always fun events and I encourage you to help your child read their books thoroughly so that they can be a part of the fun!
If your child loses/damages their book, they will have to pay to replace the book and be restricted from checking out another book until that fine is paid.
It is said that not all readers are leaders but all leaders are readers. Remember that the act of reading with your child lays a foundation that helps them the rest of their life!
